Hidden Designs by M. L. Doyle – Review

Hidden Designs by M. L. Doyle

Length: 92 pages

I was lucky enough to be offered the chance to beta read this novella.

Although a fan of m/m books I had never read anything by this author before and didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised.

Hidden Designs centres on Army Major Chuck Mathews and FBI Agent Ken Yamada. Due to their professions, these two are used to the don’t ask, don’t tell lifestyle. When they get an invite to spend some time on a friends yacht they accept, seeing it as a good chance to focus on their relationship without outside influences intruding.

Their relationship is pushed the back burner when the yacht is attacked and someone is killed. With all ability to get help cut off and suspecting someone on board is involved, it’s up to Ken and chuck to solve the mystery.

Chuck and Ken are very likeable characters, both self-assured but with a softer side they rarely let others see. It’s hard not to want to know more of their story.

M. L. Doyle provides many giggles with her dry humour and is a master at leading you up the garden path. I found myself, many times thinking I had the story all figured out only to discover I was totally wrong in my assumptions.

A relatively short read though worth picking up, but be advised… you won’t want to put it down. Although not available on Amazon UK yet it is for sale on, and is definitely one to look out for.
