Romancing Mister Bridgerton by Julia Quinn – Review

Julia Quin was one of the first authors to get me hooked on regency books. I can honestly say that I love all her books. This one is by far my favourite.

Romancing Mister Bridgeton is the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Fetherington.
Penelope Fetherington is a wallflower. Living on the outskirts of the ballroom she has watched Colin Bridgerton from afar for years but to him, she is just his sisters best friend.
Being slightly larger than was considered beautiful, and having a family of ninnies who in no way help her to catch a husband, Penelope knew colin would never be interested in her, in fact, no man was interested in her.
But she had other things to keep her occupied. Her writing. Her writing that everyone read, but no one knew she did. Until colin discovers her secret.
Colin is shocked when he finds out about Penelope’s double life and decides the only way to, save her from herself is to marry her.

It’s a dream come true for Penelope. She is being handed the man she loves on a platter. But can he ever accept her writing and learn to love her back?

Miss Quinn keeps us constantly laughing with her dry wit and humour. Penelope’s family are so dense it’s comical and the Bridgertons are a family you wish you were a part of. It’s very hard not to fall in love with Colins Charm and want to scream at him to look harder and see the amazing woman Penelope is.

If you like regency romance this book is a must read. Despite being part of a set it can be read alone, though I advise reading them all. You will enjoy them.
